The American Appaloosa Anthology
by Palmer J. Wagner
(Hard cover, 712 pages, ISBN:  0967820200)

A source of information on the history and bloodlines of the Appaloosa Horse.  This extremely interesting and informative book is highly recommended to foundation breeders.  The book contains a lot of first hand information with discussions on various controversial issues.  Palmer discusses over 130 different breeding programs, organized state by state, and includes much pre-registry data. This is one of  the most comprehensive book of it's kind. Not only does it touch on genetics and politics within the breed, but is worth the price just for the pedigrees and photos of early Appaloosas contained in this wonderful book.   The amount of information this book contains which is of help to the researcher is remarkable, although not really set up as a research tool.
